They suddenly woke up…. LCDs and plasmas are widely available… oh my god! HD, an opportunity to earn a buck!...Go to hell with you HD, Dialog and PeoTV.
Sri Lankan markets have around 5% to 10% penetration of HDTV sets based on the estimates that we have gathered when doing our own research on the local TV market. This accounts for about 200,000 to 400,000 HD TV sets. What do we watch; just the same old junk. Our lovely pay TV providers have failed us in the past and they will fail us in the future.
Now, super intelligent management of DTV states that I have to pay 1,000 to watch their NatGeo and StarMovies. But I already have HDTV and I pay 2,000 for a number of other HD channels such as History HD, NatGeo Wild HD, Discovery HD, NatGeoAdventure HD, TravelXP HD, MoviesNow HD and more true HD channels with Indian DTH operators, this is apart from a number of SD channels (most are useless though). Why should I need your shit?
I really wish even though late, PEO would do a better job. It made sense to provide IPTV. But it does not make sense to delay customer services (for days). It makes sense to provide TSTV but it does not make sense to provide this primarily to local channels; a lot of confusing mixed signals. HDTV or not, PEO need to fix pixilation issues where such problems are (I luckily do not suffer from this issue with PEO). PEO definitely offer much better picture quality (where service is available and your house is closer to the fiber node, best of luck!) compared to DTV shit.
Conclusion: Non of you can match what Indian DTH is giving on the HD front. Majority do not need HDTV while those who want it have already gone for Indian DTH. Where is the business sense? You are headed for failure dude…..
