Pixelation problems playing havoc with PEO TV

According to reports that we are receiving PEO TV subscribers are facing severe pixelations problems over the last ten days or so plus reception is being interrupted quite often. Complaints made by the subscribers are not being attended to either.

We hope PEO TV takes steps and addresses these issues immediately. PEO TV should remember that subscribers are paying a large sum of money as monthly subscription.

In this country we pay more money and helplessly use whatever the crap the businesses has to offer. Not just crappy Tv channels, food and other fmcg products as well.

Always high price for low quality and the best part is, if we ask them, they look at us like they are paying us!!

Yes. Ten Action is there. Hope they will be doing good job as there will be a system upgrade last week and TSTV is now restored to 48hours.

Why I pay for Pio is to use TSTV. In the day time I don't have time to watch my fav. programms, specially on Star world, and Swarnawahini's Mul Pituwa with Loka Sithiyama. Thanks very much for the 48 hrs Time Shift. But some times in the night, Can see slow moment on the pictures .

Warthquake on PEOTV TSTV

Are we ready - How did some of the TV channels deal with the Tsunami Warning

With the Time Shift feature PEOTV I looked at the various channels available to see their reaction to the Event. The 32X fast forward was used to review. This is what I found

The Earthquake happened off the coast of Sumatra at 14:08:37 on April 11. It was felt in Lenka a few minutes later, just around the time that all the officers were trying to close early for the Sinhala New Year.

14:24 NDTV from India report on the Event. Report on what had been
experienced in various parts of India. The announcer and Scientist
being interviewed is out of sync with the teletext which had more
updated information. The location of Earthquake is stated as the same
as the 2004 Earthquake, and USGS position was only shown much later at about 14:38. Both Announcer and Scientist should have been reading, as they spoke.

14:28 BBC announce 8.9 Earthquake off the coast of Sumatra. State
magnitude has been revised down to 8.6

14:30 News First - (Sirasa MTV Shakthi ) - Three Announcers in
Sinhala, English and Tamil from within the NewsRoom so that they had fastest access to the update stuck in this Live broadcast mode without adverts till 18:45 Cutting into CNN and Local Video footage etc. This was by far what was needed.

14:30 Swarnavahini cut from regular live programming to Breaking News. After over two minutes of silence, return to live program. Breaks again at 14:35. After announcement, Interview a person in Met Dept who says DMC has been Informed. Swarnavahini switches to Live broadcast mode in Sinhala only without adverts at 15:28 till 16:45

Very interestingly although the participants in Live show don't react, the tremor appear to vibrate the camera starting at about 14:11:40 for few minutes. Stronger a minute later. See Interference fringes in background.

14:31 Al Jazeera make announcement as part of regular News, and not
the top Story.

14:32 ETV relaying Channel News Asia give an update on Earthquake.
The Earlier announcement was missed by local programing and adverts from about 14:15 to 14:20 continue with Channel News Asia

14:32 SMS from Daily Mirror saying a tremor has been felt following an Earthquake in Indonesia.

14:36 Derana Breaking News Story - Announce 8.8 Earthquake. Say
repeatedly that DMC still has no announcement. No Special continuous live Broadcast

14:38 DMC issue warning

14:41 Rupavahini gives brief Breaking News Story, and return to
regular programing. Announcement repeated at 14:55 News, return to
regular programming. Although they cut into give news, they only switched to No advert Broadcast mode in Sinhala and Tamil at 15:40
and did that till 18:15. No English.

14:42 ITN breaking News Story. Return to regular programming

15:10 TNL Broadcasting a program repeat, cut into CNN then switch to BBC at 15:12 which was showing Financial News, and then return to CNN after just over a minute. At 15:24 CNN announce that No Tsunami has been Generated, and TNL switch back to regular program repeat at 15:27

16:13:09 8.2 Aftershock

18:00 DMC lift Tsunami Warning

I am one of the many who faces this endless problem with PEO TV and Internet Package, despite numerous complaints made over the last 6 months, until this date it has not been resolved. During the last month the TV is completely at a standstill, it is bizarre. When you count the attitude of the people at the customer service call centre, it is another nightmare, they do not understand the problem nor care about the money we pay for the service. SLT takes our money to provide a shameful service which amounts to a daylight robbery. I think it is high time ombudsman or TRC intervened and protect the public interests. I am terminating my services with SLT and will be moving to Dialog, as they are giving a good deal these days, I am not sure how their service is but I am done with arrogant SLT.

Some sources says that their capacity is over reached hence the poor/no service. Simply, greedy for money money and only money.

I have made a complaint on my PEO modem being mal-funtioning from last Friday... the call center person said that it has been informed to the RTO of my area. when i called them, they are saying, that PEO services are not handled by them to call the RTO of Panadura, who are handling this..
Why on earth cannot these stupids place technical persons, in every RTO?? If they can give connections in every RTO, why cannot they place technical personnel??? and the best thing is when i called the Panadura RTO for the PEO help staff, they are also not in office in weekends.. what a nice surprise.. we have to forego watching TV during weekend if anything happens to PEO TV.. This is such a robbery of the SLT.

I never thought this would happen.. After 6 days from my complaint, SLT responded with a call and said that they would come to see and by late evening they came and did a re-wiring for of the internal wires, ie from the box which connects the external wire to the internal wiring. and changed the rosette boxes too. and next day they replaced the router with the one which they gave for the Aurudu offer , the ZXV10 wifi router.

I am happy that even after 6 days of delay, they have done a good job. and i hope that they would keep up this with instant response to customer complaints without waiting until the customer calls several times to the CC.
Good Work SLT.

I am in Moraketiya (Pannipitiya) area and SLT bandwidth is very low here. Sometimes we have to restart the STB since video is freezing. Also after getting the peo tv connection I am only having 1mbps internet downstream (although I am using web family package which should have 8mbps downstream). SLT please give attention to bandwidth issue in this area.
