We are receiving several complaints from PEO TV subscribers regarding the problems. Even though PEO does not have the famous "Rain Fade" problem (occurs only during bad weather) that they so proudly boast of about. They are plagued by other problems such as "Waiting Signal", "Stuck STB" and severe pixelation which can occur regardless of the weather. Not everyone may be having all these problems but the most common such as "Waiting Signal" & "Stuck STB" are generally common and can generally be sorted out by restarting the Router which takes several minutes and can be pain if it occurs regularly.
We hope that PEO TV sorts out these problems soon as many of the people who moved from Dialog TV to PEO are considering switching back to Dialog TV.
With the backing of a large operator such as SLT we were of the view that PEO would be a much better service. Sadly this is not to be so. It seems that the SLT infrastructure is not capable of handling a television service or they have issued connections beyond capacity. We hope that SLT sorts out these problems if they are to become a worthy competitor in the pay television market.

i am not getting any of those errors what you guys mention previous posts. but i do get "waiting signal" error when the router reset its IP address. this maybe twice day.
SLT line i used only for ADSL those days. so it dont have any additional cabling or extensions. maybe you guys should check internal extensions (if there one). just give try remove all the other extensions and just plug to router.
just thought as i dont get any of those errors. if the issues still there dont blame me :D

I have voice, internet and data (IPTV)facilities in my ADSL line. All the cabling was done by the SLT technicians, so I assume they knew what they were doing :)))
When you say "the SLT line I use only for ADSL", do you mean that you use it ONLY for PEO TV ? (No voice or internet ?)
Also do you know the distance of your house from the transmission point ?
I am trying to use the method of 'elimination' to determine the possible causes for my PEOTV problem. Maybe I could then get the idiots@PEOTV to focus on such issues.
As I have mentioned before, I am a customer shifted from DTV to PEO. If you ask me, PEO is hundred times better than DTV. The Picture quality is superb. The customer care is also way better than the DTV. And of course, IPTV is the future and it is a good thing that SLT took the initiative to start up an IPTV services even when the pay TV market in the country is in its infancy stage.
However, it is important that we give constant feedback to ensure that PEO is in the right direction and is aligned with the true customer needs, not the ones which are perceived by the management. This “Waiting for Signal” is very annoying and PEO needs to do their best to sort this out. I am not affected by this to a larger extent but the customers will not take time to write this over and over again if this is not an issue. SLT is a large company and they have the resources to run an IPTV service properly. I am sure they would not want their customers to be disappointed.
On the other hand, there is a pressing need for new channels. If PEO is planning to give tomorrow, what is needed today, that will not work. We are waiting for the poll for new channels. In fact, I listed down a number of new channels to be included in the poll, but still the poll would not come. I wonder why this is! We are “Waiting for the Poll”.
Another thing is granting time shift facility to other channels such as few movie and sports channels. I know this may take time and resources. But it is VERY important too. For people to get accepted, you cannot just provide anything to the customers. PEO needs to provide customers with what they are needed.
Again and again, you can charge for these services. Nobody is asking for things for free. Let us select our options. Charge for them fine, but improve the services continuously. That’s what’s needed.

sorry i was not clear before.. i took the slt line to get adsl broadband. so i have the line coming from slt directly to my router. now i have the same line peotv too. i have voice but i hardly use it or i get any calls for it. the point what i am making is the smal unit they fix in our house (they called lighting save unit or something) from that to my router its less then 2 meter cable they have put. and i have not fixed any kind of extensions..
SLT staff have experience but they are not professionals...

i recently took peo and i would say the quality is at its best.
upto now ive encountered only one problem in the past 1 month ive been using peo. that is da encorder boz gets stuck while working. the channel works perfectly and plays without n e problem. but da box is stuck. cant change channels or volume and stuff.
like the first commenter said, i get the waiting signal only when the IP is reset thru my router. otherwise, upto now ive never got da waiting signal. even last few days ive been watching da match on tensports and no probs.
only problem is da harware problem. since v bought the set, v had to call up SLT guys to come and change da bloody remote control around 3 times now. the thing jst stops working all of a sudden. but one thing that shud b commended abt is the customer service. last week the remote went for a 6 again and i called up SLT and within an hr those guys came and replaced da control.
like the other guy has said, u will need to chk on ur cabling. coz i too hav been using ADSL fr da past 3 yrs and only recently took peo. so no probs for me in terms of da network!

Both you guys made the point that you experienced the 'Waiting Signal' issue only when the "router resets it's IP address".
I am not 'tech-savvy', so could you please explain when or why a router would automatically reset it's IP address ?
My router is sometimes on for a 24-hour period, but there is no change in it's IP address during this period. But I do have the 'waiting signal' problem.
The only time the IP address changes is if the router is switched off and then on again. But this is I believe due to the fact that routers have dynamic IP addresses.

well its lyk this. SLT ADSL automatically disconnected every 8 or 10 hrs a day and then reconnects automatically. i dont know the reason but if ur using a router then this happens automatically.

Thanks for your quick response. My Company uses the SLT Servers to maintain our databases and we have good rapport with the SLT Engineers. I will check with them the reason for the disconnection of the ADSL line.Will keep you informed.

well i dont think u wont b having that kind of trouble at ur company coz for corporate business solutions, SLT provides a static IP. for home use they give a dynamic IP which has to change. static IP's dont change. they remain the same until the administrator actually changes it!

I checked with the SLT Engineer this morning and he indicated that the reason why they change dynamic IP addresses every 8 - 10 hours is to prevent Computers at such addresses being used as Servers.
But he assured me that this has no bearing on the 'Waiting Signal' problem which he too experiences at his home :)))
He claimed that this is due to weak signals being transmitted coupled with large numbers of users and also the distance of the house from the transmission point.
I believe that he is correct for two reasons.
Firstly, during the last T20 match I experienced the 'waiting signal' every two minutes. (The IP address is not changed every two minutes)
Secondly, at that same time most of the other PEO TV channels were working perfectly. If it is a problem of changing IP's, shouldn't all the channels be affected simultaneously ?
Well I got it in Anderson Road Dehiwela and have all of the mentioned problems. They told me that the line is slow in Dehiwela and don't know when they will upgrade. Hence if I am not happy with the status they can cancel the account and refund the money!

but regarding da distance from da service center. well im nt sure hw it affects me. coz i live quite far away from da service center. i live near da dehiwala canal and my service center is at havelock road. its very far apart.

My understanding is that there could be a communication failure between STB and Streaming server @ SLT. This could be due to a software bug or poor signal to noice ratio of the line. My biggest guess is a software issue of the STB because i have a perfect line quality stilli get occational waiting signal.
STAR SPORTS & STAR CRICKET has been added to the Al-a-carte menu with effect from today.....
Each channel costs Rs. 125/- per month bringing the total cost of both channels to Rs. 250/- per month which is 1/4th of the rental of the base package ( Rs. 1000/- ) at the moment... ( above figures exclude taxes )
there is doubt if customers are willing to accept these two most wanted channels at these prices... it is true that customers wanted these two channels very badly, but the price???????

I too experience these problems. I'm about 3 km from the exchange, but the line status is similar to that of over 4 km. This is due to problems with underground wires i guess since they tried to fix the problem by changing boxes in posts.
Anyway the thing is sometimes the infrastructure may pose a huge challenge to the successful expansion of this service.
But that is a matter that could be compensated at least to some extent by having an efficient operation. The Peo TV operation seems to be extremely lethargic. for instance of Dialog say had the opportunity to give this service, it would have been at a far more better state than this. Look how long they took to give Starr Sports and Cricket. How long will they take to give the other channels. This slow progress undoubtedly helps DTV to stay on top. The management of Peo TV should take into mind this and specially to listen to customers when introducing channels and services. True they may have technical challenges and problems. But when it comes to the industrial world that does not matter in the end; what matters is only whether u did the project right or whether u failed.
Peo tv was offering the slt customers a free connection. i got Peo tv yesterday.(after 3weeks!!!) it was working fine.
i switched it on today & nothing seem to load properly... i was resetting the instrument for about 30mins jus to see a busy or a ppage cannot be found message which is fustrating at its highest point..
so i called this engineer. a guy named Mr.Thivaharan.
he rudely replied to me saying that my was too far from their exchange so they will have to check the cable or else they wont be able to provide the peo tv service etc...

Guys now its 2011 there pic quality is good but still there channels sucks I recommend u never buy that shit even they tells they have more features than dialog.
TSTV is their trick to get customer attraction.
Peo TV is a shit they charge money 4 all local channels and their foreign channels sucks. Paying additional 400 bucks is fully wast of money
for HBO.In the star movies they repeat the same movies ( ex-Avatar was played yesterday evening and today also the same avatar shit ).
The top most worst thing of slt is they never tells you about the agreement.If you subscribed to PEO shit you must have to use that 1 year.
Channels are no match to dialog only channel worth is Discovery and even for NGC you have to pay 50 bucks which dialog provide free of charge.
